Seven Wonders of Morocco

Volubilis is an ancient Roman city that has been partly excavated. The city can be found near Meknes in Morocco. Volubilis’ development started in the 3rd century BC. The town was built in an agricultural area that was said to be fertile. Volubilis is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Todgha Gorge is a canyon located in Morocco’s High Atlas Mountains. Its last 600 meters are one of the factors that make the Todgha Gorge special because it is where the canyon becomes narrowed down to a stony track. The canyon features robust rock sides with surfaces that are mostly uneven.

Essaouira is a city in Moricca that used to be known by its Portuguese name, Mogador. Essaouira used to be enclosed by fortress walls, hence the name. Until today, it is considered as one of Moroccan coast’s best anchorages.

The Draa River is the longest river in Morocco, with a lengh of 1,100 kilometers. The Dades and Imini River join together to form the Draa. The Draa River is part of the Draa Valley, wherein there are around 225,000 people living there. The Valley itself has an area of 23,000 square kilometers.

The Erg Chebbi is one of Morocco’s pride, being one of the two Saharan large dunes. These dunes are naturally formed by sand that is blown by the wind. The other one is the Erg Chigaga located near M’hamid. The Chebbi dunes’ height reaches up to 150 meters.

The City of Ait Benhaddou is located along the Marrakech and Sahara. Ait Benhaddou is famous for its kasbahs or quarters, even though most of them get damaged during rainstorms. Prince of Persia, the Gladiator and the Mummy all leveraged the scenery for filming.

The Toubkal is a part of the Toubkal National Park. This mountain peak is 13,671 feet (4,167 m) high, which makes it the Atlas Mountains’ highest peak. The Toubkal National Park protects this mountain peak, which attracts visitors from around the world for treks and climbs.

Marrakesh is one of Morocco’s major cities that have served as tourist attractions themselves. The city is also known as Marrakech and is one of Morocco’s four former imperial cities. Berber farmers from Neolithic times used to inhabit the place.

The Granites of Tafraoute is a landscape that is located in the eastern part of the Anti Atlas. Those rocks have since been formed and melted to form different shapes. The incredible scenery is what leads people to explore and visit Granites of Tafraoute.

The Ouzoud waterfalls, also known as Cascades d’Ouzoud, can be found in Morocco’s province of Azilal. The waterfalls are 110 meters high, and its bottom can only be accessed by going through a shaded olive tree path. The falls are one of the most visited sites in Azilal.
