Seven Wonders of Canada

The CN Tower is the world’s tallest freestanding structure, towering at 553.33 meters. The CN Tower serves as a concrete communications and observations tower that is located in the downtown area of Toronto. The CN Tower has a total of 147 floors and 9 elevators.

The Banff Springs Hotel was built during the 19th century as one of Canada's grand railway hotels.  The hotel is seated in the Rocky Mountains and overlooks Bow Falls.  This castle of a hotel is an iconic hotel for Canada.

The Parliament of British Columbia is comprised of the monarch of Canada and the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.  The building was founded in 1871 when British Columbia joined Canada as an official province.

Butchart Gardens are located in Brentwod Bay, British Columbia.  The gardens were created from the grounds of a previous cement quarry.  Today they are a renowned garden of beauty and have been declared a National Historic Site of Canada.

Capilano Suspension Bridge is a simple bridge that extends 460 feet (140 m) across the river.  The bridge is located in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The bridge is about 230 feet (70 m) high.  The bridge was originally built in 1889.

Casa Loma is a Gothic Revival stle house and gardens located in Toronto, Ontario.  It serves as a museum and landmark today.  It was constructed from 1911 through 1914 and features 7 floors and 64,700 square feet.

The Chateau Frontenac is a grand hotel located in Quebec City, Quebec.  It received the National Historic Site of Canada designation in 1980.  It was originally built in 1893.

The East Block, Eastern Department Building, is one of three buildings found on Canada's Parliament Hill.  It was constructed in 1866 and features a Victorian High Gothic architectural style.  The tower walls are three feet thick.

The Fairmont Empress, most commly called The Empress, is one of the oldest and most famous hotels in Victoria, British Columbia.  It opened in 1908 and currently features 477 rooms and four different resaurants.  Most rooms provide a scenic view of the harbor.

The Montreal Biodome is a facility located in Montreal that provides visitors with an opportunity to stroll through the four ecosystems found in the Americas.  It was originally constructed for the 1976 Winter Olympics.  It showcases over 4,800 animals.

The National Gallery of Canada is located in Ottawa, Ontario.  It is considred one of Canada's premier art galleries.  Construction was completed in 1988.  Features a variety of paintings, sculptures, drawings, and photographs.

Notre-Dame Basilica is located in the historic district of Montreal.  The church was dedicated in 1829.  It measures 259 feet (79 m) long, 151 feet (46 m) wide, and 200 feet (60 m) high.  It reflects the Gothic Revival architecture and is one of the most dramatic in the world.

The Rideau Canal, also known as Rideau Waterway, connects Ottawa and Kingston together.  It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site that extends 202 kilometers in length.  The canal was openedd in 1832.

West Edmonton Mall is located in Edmonton, Alberta.  It is the largest shopping mall in North America and the tenth largest in the world.  It encompasses 5,300,000 square feet) and has over 800 stores and services with parking for more than 20,000 vehicles.
