Seven Wonders of Waterfalls

Based on a single sheet of water, Victoria Falls is the largest watefall in the world.  The falls measure one mile (1.7 km) across and 380 feet (108 m) high.  Victoria Falls sits on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Iguassu Falls is comprised of 275 different falls collectively stretching over 1.67 miles (2.7 km). The highest drop occurs at Devil's Throat with a height of 269 feet (82 m). Iguassu falls is on the border of Argentina and Brazil.

Niagara Falls features a volume of six million cubic feet making it one of the largest falls in the world based on volume. Niagara Falls sits on the border of Canada and the USA. The highest drop occurs at Horseshoe Falls with a height of 173 feet (53 m).

Angel Falls is the tallest waterfall in the world. It reaches a height of 3,212 feet (979 m) Angel Falls is located in Venezuela.  The height and scenic view of the moutnain wall serve as the highlight for Angel Falls.

Gullfoss Falls travels along the river and then turns sharply to the right and falls down a three step staircase of falls.  Afterwards the falls plummets into a cavern that measures 105 feet (32 m) deep.  Gullfoss is one of two waterfall candidates located in Iceland.

The Plitvice Falls in Croatia involve 16 collective lakes that descend over 0.77 square miles creating a variety of cascading falls.  The greatest hight is 255 feet (78 m).  The splendor rises from the variety of cascades.

Pearl Shoal Falls is a spectacular waterfall in China.  The height of the falls measures 130 feet (40 m) and it extends 533 feet, (162 m) across.  The falls are located at 7,982 feet (2,433) in the upper part of China.

Palouse Falls, located in Washington, USA falls a height of 198 feet ( 60 m).  There are two drops in the falls with the lower being the larger and accounting for 180 feet (55 m) of the falls.  The falls are highlighted by the drastic bend and coloration of the famous Snake River canyon.

Huangguoshu Falls is one of the largest falls in China and East Asia. The highest part of the falls reaches a height of 255 feet (77.8 m) and the expand 331 feet (101 m) wide. The main part of the falls covers 273 feet (83.3 m) across and stands 220 feet (67 m) high.

Dettifoss Falls is the largest falls in Europe based on volume of water. The falls extend 330 feet (100 m) across and feature 150 foot (45 m) drop. This is the second waterfall candidate from Iceland.

Kaieteur Falls, located in Guyana, features a 741 foot (226 m) drop to the first break. A series of cascading steps extend the falls to a total of 822 feet (251 m). Considered one of the most powerful falls with a volume of 23,400 cubic feet per second.

Upper Yellowstone Falls are famous for both their park location and aesthetic beauty. Yellowstone Falls is considered a collection of two falls but they are half a mile apart. The Upper Yellowstone Falls has a height of 109 feet (33 m).

Yosemite Falls leverages Yosemite valley and granite monoliths as the canvass backdrop. It is the highest waterfall in North America measuring 2,425 feet (739 m). It is both statistically and aesthetically a wonder.

Ban Goc - Detian Falls, located on the border of Vietnam and China, is the 4th largest border falls. The falls plummet 98 feet (30 m) and cascade across rocks, trees, and cliffs. Vietnam says it is one falls, whereas China claims that it is two separate falls.
