Seven Wonders of Turkey

Galata Tower, is also called Christea Turris (Tower of Christ), is a medieval stone tower located in Istanbul.  It is one of the city's most significant landmarks.  The tower provides a panoramic view of Istanbul and the peninsula.  Tower is nine stories high.

The Sultan Ahmed Mosque, also known as the Blue Mosque, features beautiful blue tiles throughout the interior walls.  The mosque was constructed in 1616 and still serves as a popular mosque today.  Reaches a height of 141 feet (43 m) with the dome.

The library of Celsus is an anciety historical Roman building originally Ephesus, Anatolia.  It was completed in 135 AD by Celsus's son, and it was built to story 12,000 scrolls and serve as a monumental tomb for Celsus.

Dolmabahce Palace construction was completed in 1856 and originally served as the administrative center for the Ottoman Empire.  The palace is located in Istanbul on the coastline of the Bosphorus strait.  It is the largest palace in Turkey covering 11.2 acres with 285 rooms, 46 halls and 6 baths.

Hadrian's Gate, is also known as Hadrianus Gate or Uckpilar, serves as the triumphal arch in Antalya. It was built in honor of the Roman emperor Hadrian. It is built primarily of white marble.  The two towers were believed to be additions to the gate.

The Duden Waterfalls is a collection of waterfalls in the province of Antalya. The falls are created by the Duden River. The river disappears into sinkholes and underground for 9 miles before coming out again. It goes underground again for another 1.2 miles and then back out again.

Myra was a leading city of the Lycian Union. The rock tomb ruins are one of the most significant landmarks for the city and the historical Lycian culture. The site was believed to be used from 1250-546 BC.

Anrtkabir is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder and first President of the Republic of Turkey.  Anrtkabir, meaning "memorial tomb," is located in Ankara.  It reaches a height of 56 feet (17 m), 188 feet (57 m) long, and 136 feet (41.6 m) wide.  Construction was completed in 1953.

The Mushrrom Rock features are one of the areas most distinctive and famous landmarks.  Some describe it as a unique moon-like landscape.  This unique rocky region features underground cities, cave churches, and cave houses.

Rumelihisari, also known as Rumelian Castle, is a fortress found in Istanbul.  It is on the European side of hte Bosphorus.  Construction was completed in 1452.  There is one small tower, three main towers, and 13 small watchtowers.  The main tower reaches a height of 92 feet (28 m) with a diameter of 76 feet (23 m).
