Seven Wonders of Tajikistan

Hisor, also called Hissar or Gissar, Fort is a large fort located in the city.  The fort date backs to Cyrus the Great.  It is renowned for being captured twenty-one different times.

The Palace of Nations was a new presidential residence that was constructed in 2009.

The monument of Heroes of Tajikistan represents a memorial to the heroes who fought in the war between 1941 and 1945.

Lenin Peak reaches a summit of 23,406 feet (7,134 m). It lies near the border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. It is the second highest point in the country. It is considered one of the easiest peaks over 7,000 m to climb.

The Dushanbe Amphitheater was constructed amidst the botanical gardens. Construction was completed in 2004 to honor the 80th anniversary. It seats approximately 1,500 people.

Iskanderkul is a mountain lake that is fed by glacial runoff. It lies at 7,201 feet (2,195 m). It encompasses 1.3 square miles (3.4 sq km). Considered the most beautiful lake in the country.

The Nurek Dam is an earth fill embankment dam located on the Vakhsh River. Construction occurred from 1961 through 1980. It reaches a height of 984 feet (300 m). It is the second tallest man-made dam in the world.

Tajik National Park, also called Pamir National Park, is a nature reserve that was established in 1992. The national park features a variety of ecosystems including desert, steppe, grassland, and alpine regions. It is home to brown bear, wolves, sheep and the elusive snow leopard. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Afaq Khoja Mausoleum, also called the Aba Khoja Mausoleum, is the holiest Muslim site in the country. It was constructed in 1640 and represents one of the finest examples of Islamic architecture.

Madrasa-e Kohna is a monument located in Hiser (also called Hissar). It was an old Islamic school.
