Seven Wonders of Japan

With a height of more than 12,000 feet, Mount Fuji is Japan’s highest mountain. Not only is it known for that, but also for the fact that it has an astonishing symmetrical beauty. It has also become an icon of Japan due to its structure. Each year, more or less 200,000 people visit Mount Fuji and go for a climb.

The Great Buddha Kamakura is a tremendous outdoor bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha. It is found at at the temple at Kamakura. It is estimated that the bronze statue was created in 1252. It reaches a height of 43.8 feet (13.35 m) and weighs 267,000 pounds.

Tokyo Skytree is an observation tower that includes a broadcasting station and a restaurant. It measures 2,080 feet (634 m) making it the tallest structure in Japan and the tallest tower in the world. It relays TV and radio signals across the city.

Kinkakuji, is also known as the Temple of the Golden Pavilion, is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto. The temple and garden represent the Muromachi design. The Golden Pavillion is a three story building that was founded in 1397.

The Urakami Cathedral, also known as St. Mary's Cathedral, is a Roman Catholic cathedral. It was originally constructed in 1925, but then reconstructed in 1959 after being destroyed in the war. It was originally the largest Cathedral in Asia.

Lake Mashu is a crater lake created from the caldera of a volcano that is still potentially active. The lake is located in Akan National Park. It is renowned for being the clearest lake in the world. It reaches a depth of 694 feet (211.5 m) at the deepest point.

Mount Aso is the largest active volcano in Japan and one of the largest in the world. It reaches a summit at 1,592 meters and features one of the largest calderas in the world. The caldera measures 25 km north to south and 18 km east to west.

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building stands 797 feet (242.9 m) high. It is also known as Tokyo City Hall and serves as the headquarters of the government that oversees the 23 wards, all cities and towns that make up Tokyo as a metroplex.

Mount Zao is a complex volcano made up of a series of stratovolcanoes. It features Goshiki-dake and a crater lake affectionately known as "Five Color Pond." The name comes from the fact that the pond changes colors depending on the weather.

Todai-ji, also known as the Eastern Great Temple, is a Buddhist temple. The temple is found in Nara. It is home to the largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana.
