Seven Wonders of Finland

Uspenski Cathedral is an Eastern Orthodox cathedral located in Helsinki. The cathedral honors the virgin Mary as noted in its dedication to the Dormition of the Theotokos. Contruction was complted in 1868.  It sets on the hillsdie overlooking the city.

The Parliament building is a five story constructed from 1926 to 1931. It sits atop Arkadianmaki as a premier location. It has served as the launching point for many key moments in Finnish history.  It follows the classic style of the 1920s.

Suomenlinna, previously referred to as Viapori and Sveaborg, is an inhabited fortress encompassing six islands.  It is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Finland.

The Presidential Palace is located in Helsinki and it serves as an official residence of the President of the Republic of Finland. Seated on the north side of the Esplanadi, the palace overlooks Market Square.

Oulu City Hall is the official seat of authority for the municipal government of the city of Oulu. The building was constructed following neo-renaissance style architecture. The council has used the facilities since 1920.

The Finnish Natioal Theater was founded in 1872. The theatre is the oldest Finnish-language professional theater in Finland. The buildig was completed in 1902 and follows a national Romantic style inspired by romantic nationalism.

Olavinlinna Castle, meaning St. Olaf's Castle, is a 15th century three tower castle. It is the northernmost stone fortress that is still standing. It was constructed in 1475.

Helsinki Cathedral is a Finnish Evangelical Lutheran cathedral for the Diocese of Helsinki.  Construction was completed in 1852 honoring the Grand Duke of Finland. The cathedral is a renowned landmark featuring the tall green dome and construction followed the neoclassical style.

The Medieval Tampere Cathedral, simply kown as Tampere Cathedral, was constructed following the Nordic-Medieval-Gothic revival National Romantic architectural style. Construction was complted in 1907. The Tampere is renowned for the frescoes, painted by Hugo Simberg in 1905 and 1906.
