Seven Wonders of Austria

St. Stephen’s Cathedral, also called Stephansdom, was constructed in 1147 and serves as the mother church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vienna. It reaches a height of 448 feet (136.7 m). The cathedral measures 351 (107 m) long and 230 feet (70 m) wide.

Belvedere Palace is comprised of two palaces, Baroque and Orangery, and the palace stables. Fountains, cascades and manicured grounds decorate this majestic and historic building complex.

Hofburg Palace is found in Vienna and serves as the official residence of the President of Austria. The expansions of the palace now include the Imperial Chapel, National Library, the Imperial Treasury, the Imperial Horse Stables, and the Hofburg Congress Center.

Melk Abbey is a Benedictine Abbey and is renowned as one of the world’s most famous monastic sites.

The Museum of Natural History, also called NHMW, is a large museum extending across 94,000 square feet (8,700 sq m). There are around 30 million artifacts and display pieces.

Hohensalzburg Castle, translated from German “High Salzburg Fortress,” is located on top of Festungsberg. It measures 820 feet (250 m) long and 490 feet (150 m) wide. It is one of the largest medieval castle in Europe.

Rathaus, town hall, is a aesthetically beautiful building that serves as the official meeting place for the Governor and Assembly. Construction was completed in 1883.

Schonbrunn Palace is a former Rococo summer residence that showcases the historical tastes of Habsburg monarchs. It features 1,441 rooms and is one of the most significant tourist attractions in the country.

Gloriette is a pavilion or tempietto structure amidst the Schonbrunn Palace Garden located in Vienna. It was constructed in 1775.

The Austrian Parliament Building serves as the official place of meeting for the two houses. It currently holds the National Council and the Federal Council. The House of Representatives held the first session in 1883.

St. Charles Church, locally called Karlskirche, is a baroque church found on the south side of the town square Karlsplatz. It was consecrated in 1737. It measures 180.4 feet (55 m) and 131. 2 feet (40 m). The dome peaks at 229.7 feet (70 m).

Hoenwerfen Castle is located on a hillside over the town of Werfen. It is located in the Berchtesgaden Alps. The castle sits at 509 feet (155 m).
