Having the opportunity to hear the sounds of the world is a blessing. Just think about what it is like to hear Beethoven or Mozart played on a grand piano, the classical songs of the Beatles, or your child learning to play a new musical instrument. What about the sounds of the ocean waves splashing on the shore, the rain tickling on the roof, or the clash of thunder as lightning fills the sky. What about crickets or frogs as they fill the night air with their natural chorus or the howl of a wolf off in the hills.
Hearing as a Wonder of Mankind?
Some might say there is nothing better than hearing the first “I love you” from your partner, or the “I do” during your wedding, or the cooing or giggling of your new baby. Sure he has selective hearing when it comes to honey dos, but how sweet is it to answer the phone and have your love one say “Hey Sweetheart.”
Hearing the sounds of life brings so much joy. Just take a moment and imagine the sounds of life and more than likely you can hear the bumbling brook, thunderstorms across the skies, the crashing of waterfalls, the wind blowing through the trees, the birds singing overhead, or the purr of your kitten in your ear.
The wonder of hearing can also be protective or provide warning. This wonder lets someone hear an intruder, hear an accident in the kitchen, or hear something approaching in the woods. It allows us to hear a call for help or a crying baby in need. The wonder of hearing saves lives.
