Seven Natural Wonders of Canada

Niagara Falls is the communal name for three waterfalls that are between the borders of the US and Canada. The Canadian side of the falls is the largest of the three and is also known as the Horseshoe Falls. The height of the Horseshoe Falls is at 176 feet or 60.9 meters. Its length of brink is up to 2600 feet and collects 2,271,247 liters per second. The Horseshoe Falls features colorful floodlights at night for the tourists.

Peyto Lake is located in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.  It is a glacier-fed lake.  The lake site at an elevation of 6,100 feet (1,860 m).  The glacial runoff bring rock particles into the lake creating an amazing turquoise blue color.  It is arguably one of the most beautiful lakes in the world.

Jasper National Park is located in Alberta above Banff National Park. It is the largest national park in the Canadian Rockies extending 4,200 square miles (10,878 sq mi).

Nahanni National Park is located in the Northwest Territories. Highlights include the South Nahanni River, Virginia Falls, and four canyons that get up to 3,300 feet (1,000 m) deep.

The Thousand Islands is located in the Saint Lawrence River. It is an archipelago comprised of 1,864 islands that extend of 50 miles (80 km). The largest island is 40 square miles (100 sq km).

Morraine Lake is also called the Valley of the Ten Peaks. It is a glacial lake sitting at 6,183 feet (1,885 m). The ten peaks surrounding the lake is one of the most picturesque scenes in the world.

Dinosaur Provincial Park is located in Albert Canada. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Forty dinosaur species and around 500 species of life have been found in the park area.

Hopewell Rocks are part of the Bay of Fundy, which is one of the Seven Natural Wonders of N. America. Unique rocks created from the tidal erosion reaching a height of 70 feet. A wonder of their own?

Cathedral Grove is located in MacMillan Provincial Park. The grove features towering Douglas fir trees that are more than 800 years old. It is located in British Columbia.

Grose Morne National Park is located in Newfoundland. It extends 697 square miles (1,805 sq km) and is recognized as a UNESCO WOrld Heritage Site. It features oceanic crust and mantle rock.

Lake Louise is located in Banff National Park of Albert. The glacial rock flour creates a beautiful emerald color for the lake. The mountain background creates one of the most beautiful settings.

Western Brook Pond is located in Gros Morne National Park in Newfoundland. It is a fjord or lake surrounded by steep walls reaching 2,000 feet (600 m) high.

Virginia Falls is located in Nahanni National Park and is sourced by the Nahanni River. It features a drop of 315 feet (96 m), making it twice as high as Niagara.
