Seven Wonders of Kazakhstan

The Ascension Cathedral is a Russian Orthodox cathedral.  Construction was completed in 1907.  The cathedral is renowned as the second tallest wooden building around the globe.

The Nur-Astana Mosque is the second largest mosque in Kazakhsan as well as central Asia. It reaches a height of 131 feet (40 m). The minarets reach height of 207 feet ( 63 m).

The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yasawi was commissioned in 1389, however construction was never completed. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Bayterek Monument serves as both a monument and observation tower. It reaches a height of 344 feet (105 m). Construction was completed in 1997.

The Khan Shatyr Entertainment Center is a massive transparent tent structure with construction completed in 2006. The tent reaches a height of 500 feet (150 m). It encompasses 35 acres (14 hectares). Shopping, river boat, miniature golf, and an indoor beach are all located inside.

The Tamgaly Petroglyphs date back to the Bronze Age, with some attributed to either the Iron Age or the Medieval Times. Tamgaly is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Presidential Palace, locally called Ak Orda Presidential Palace, is the official workplace of the President of Kazakhstan. Construction was completed in 2004. It reaches a height of 260 feet (80 m) with seven floors that encompasses 395,000 square feet (36,720 sq m).

The Charyn Canyon is located near the border of Kazakhstan and China. It stretches 80 kilometers. The Sharyn National Park was established in 2004 to protect the area. A highlight is the Valley of Castle that feature unique rock formations.

Aktobe Church is a large church and a famous landmark in the country.

The Majestic Mosque Hazret Sultan is the largest mosque in the country. It was constructed in traditional Islamic style with local Kazakh ornaments. It is located on the Yesil River.

The Ustyurt Plateau runs in and between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. It spans across 200,000 square kilometers with the majority being stony desert. There are semi-nomadic families raising goats, sheep and camels.

The Ministry of Natural Resources building reflects the abundance of natural resources available in the country. The building is home to most of the 30,000 employees.

Jnylcheck Glacier is located in the Tian Shan Mountains. It is one of the largest non-polar glaciers in the world. The main glacier features two arms. The Engilchek arm is longer accounting for 38 miles (60.5 km).
