Singapore

Singapore, an island country, is a sovereign city-state.  Located at the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula, the city-country island is surrounded by approximately 60 other smaller islands that comprise together to form the country of Singapore.

Singapore is one of the world’s majore commerical hubs.  The city features the third highest per capita income in the world.

Singapore was not one of the original wonder cities, but it is a welcomed and deserving “wonder city” winner for 2015.

Singapore Characteristics

Singapore is home to the majority of the countries 5.4 million population.  Singapore is a unitary multiparty parliamentary republic that includes a Westminster form of unicmeral parliamentary government.

Although the country consists of 63 islands, the city of Singapore is comprise on the largest and main island oftern referred to as Singapore Island.

The 2011 World Justice Project’s RUle of Law Index places the city of Singapore as a leading country in reference to “Absence of Corruption,” “Order and Security,” and “Effective Criminal Justice.”

Although limited in size and available living space, approximately 10% of Singapore’s land has been designated as parks or nature reserves.  This reflects a strong commitment to the natural word.
